What else is there to give to your children for a meal? I saw a portable radio (because the electrical shut down were more than twenty per day, people oriented on “batteries”). I took it and turned it on. It was exactly when they decree “the state of need”, people stupefied from what they were listening not knowing what was to come. I left them and went home. Those days I asked my mother in law to stay with us considering the fact there was no wood, heat or hot water and I got, from year 1987, a stove from an air shaft and when we were colder we used to make a fire in the bathroom heating the flat from the pipe’s power. They assumed that 18° C were enough to heat the flats. There were flats that haven’t been heated more then 10°C ever. Must was blooming on the ceilings and on the walls. I entered the house as a storm, as my mother in law bewared so that I won’t put her down and I was “like a shoot” at the TV. It may have passed years since any TV shows were broadcasted that hour in case there wasn’t a business call of “him”. My mother in law was staring at me as at “the one far from home” whispering something and crossing. I changed my clothes quickly and took a stand in front of “the world’s window” that wasn’t “spinning” as a cat; it was sizzling, with any show. And then suddenly the signal was on and with a hardly gasp on their breath: “Dinescu, Caramitru”and on the second plan, “Sergiu Nicolaescu”, surrounded buy a fuzzy and big group of people. “Dinescu” was the most “smothered”. “Caramitru” presented us “Dinescu”, the one that people knew only from “Free Europe” where his activity and the fact that he was a dissenter in the country were presented. This is how “Caramitru” expressed himself: “I came at the television on a tank. He is the poet you heard of and that you can also see now, “Dinescu”. He would like to inform you about a very important announcement”. Then “Dinescu”, hardly gasping his breath, expressed this words: “Ceausescu run off with a helicopter from the Central Committee at 12:55 o’clock (or it may have been 12:55 o’clock when he shard this words). We are free! The nation got the power. Dealing more with this type of extreme situation, “Sergiu Nicolaescu” came closer and made a full opening of the events in the same time asking for people’s and army support (let us not forget that the army shoot down, both in “Timisoara” and Bucharest, manifestants).

The figure of those three literati in those tense and full of incertitude moments it was for me like a balm. If someone asked me whom I wished to see for the first time in the frame of this new world that was growing in those moments, I believe no figure of politician, soldier, priest or whatever it may be, wouldn’t bring my soul so much peace than this three literati brought me, altogether and truthful people, with a great audience among public.
Because of the impulse caused by the Television, in Baia Mare: “You all get out on the marketplaces and fill the town hall”, people went out on the streets, forming a big reunion, but in lack of a leader …they were waiting. After a long time spent in discussions and debates, a proposal was certified: “We split in two. A group fills the County’s Council (County’s Committee of the Party), and the other will have to fill the Security”. Nothing happened to anyone, there wasn’t any kind of opposition. Even where they meat soldiers, security men, they co-operated with the “revolutionists” that took the weapons and some papers (nobody knew it’s use) and they installed themselves in the two buildings. The groups becoming louder than before and more autocrats got also to the town hall. Someone (the administrator) asked them: “What do you want?”
-The books and pictures with Ceausescu, to burn it!
-Ok. I will give it to you but you have to take it from the frame so it won’t break. The frames are on bill.
-Good, and they started with careful to take out the portraits and burn it. Bale fire came out from the masters “creation” and portraits. People amused themselves when “creations” and portraits of her, the “academician”, appeared, giving them a sort of satisfaction when breaking it.
This is how the first day ended. At evening everybody went home. That supposed leader didn’t show up so nobody had any idea of what to do, even more, the so called time-serving people showed up, trying to stand on their own, starting to guess what kind of benefits one could get from this type of situation. Once the damage was done, the simple man calmed down and attended his usual own matters. This simple man was the first to make a mistake. He didn’t know he won’t have peace until HE, HIMSELF WON’T FIND NEW MASTERS TO THRON. This “action” was lead from behind by the ones that wished to become the NEW MASTERS. At evening they went home satisfied, walking through were they wished and taking what they wanted. True dramas were being consumed at the parties eating house and storages. A child “got” to have one banana but because he had never seen one before, he wanted to throw it away. That is when the older ones began to cry.
Their children didn’t know about the goodness that others had daily. Some of them even took weapons from the police and from the security, who knew, they might be good for something.
Second day the fight for power started, organizing the adherent clans, a deafly but tough fight, tough so the population won’t calm down and so the party will be lost. The state of perturbation, incertitude and doubt had to be maintained so that they can be controlled. When first rumors came out, got the whole population of the municipality into alert making them look around and group around someone that appeared more alike an autocrat on the situation, more famous, or maybe just more oriented and “got into” his command. Pretty well, some they were ashamed, after they realized “on whose hands they gave each-other”, but this was it. And our man leaves the “waves of revolution” going on with a different story.
“Ladies and gentleman, we continue the story of human kind with me, in the older régime being trained every year for “the local defense” and where I had the position of “Chief for the chemistry and radiation research group”, function that anticipated in the case of an emergency or of a bad situation to take the First secretary and place him into where I was commanded. My T.A.B., the action car with which I was endowed, was equipped with all that was necessary, for both defense and attack, being able to get from almost 200 roentgens into the radiated field. That’s how I was supposed to do things but last year “the displacement commands” were given out, in the case of a “general movement”, under some ticket traveling on all the transportation vehicles, tickets that were imprinted on the soldier’s book. To get to them I had to run from school on a break. When I got to the army’s unit I asked the officer that gave us the sheets (I knew him for ten years) to give me the tickets to imprint on my book because I don’t have that much time to sit in line for it. With all the friendship and acquaintance he told me to do not get upset but this is the command for him, to imprint the tickets on the book, thing that irritated me a lot. I went home, with no arguing, I took the “hospital outgoing” after the infarct and went to the military doctor, “Telegdi”, that “checked me out”, ending for all with the army, fact that disengaged me from walking “Bradulet” in the revolution days, although, from custom, I was checking his “actions”. When he was taken out on the REMIN terrace he was very scared. Colorless, he was saying what “others” asked him to say. In the end I found out he retired to “Sibiu”.
